Peña Oroel: pre-Pyrenean hike near the gateway city of Jaca

November 2016

Peña Oroel (1740m) is a very low-key hike right outside of Jaca. 8 km round trip starting from Mirador Refugio de Oroel, and it’s pretty much accessible all year round.

Jaca is extremely well known as it’s the gateway to some very popular valleys in the Pyrenees. If you’re going to hit up either of the ski resorts Astún or Candanchú, you’re going to have to pass right by Jaca. The top of this lil’ mountain blesses us with some really gorgeous views of the entire snowy range.
